What Not to Do After an Automobile/Car Accident

What you do immediately after an incident can significantly impact the results of your case.

  1. Don't Give a Recorded Statement
To protect yourself from potentially providing damaging information to the insurance company, do not consent to recording any phone calls with insurance companies.

  2. Don't Sign a Medical Waiver
This often gives the insurance company access to all your medical records even things that do not apply to your accident injuries. They can use your pre-accident health history to justify making a low settlement offer.

  3. Don't settle your case too soon
Insurance companies will want to settle your claim as fast as possible. This may not always be the best thing because the extent of your injuries have not yet been determined.

  4. Don't expect more than one check
Insurance companies typically write one check and are done with your claim.

With years of experience handling thousands of personal injury cases in the Fresno area, you can trust Darryl B. Freedman and his dedicated staff to partner with you during the process of settling an insurance claim and managing your medical treatment.
